About the Department

The Department of Cyber Security, established in 2023, aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to protect digital systems, networks and data from cyber threats. The department offers both theoretical and practical learning in areas such as ethical hacking, network security, cryptography, and digital forensics. With experienced faculty, modern labs, and regular workshops, students gain hands-on experience and stay updated with the latest trends in Cyber Security. The department is to equip students with technical, professional and ethical skills to confront cyber-threats and work in a rapidly evolving field.

To be a centre of excellence in Cyber Security that fosters advanced learning, research, and innovation, and develops ethically responsible professionals to ensure a secure and resilient digital society.

PSO 1

Secure System Design and Implementation: Apply the principles of cyber security, cryptography, and secure coding practices to design, develop, and implement robust systems and applications that protect data, networks, and infrastructure from cyber threats.

PSO 2

Threat Analysis and Incident Response: Analyze, detect, and respond to cyber attacks and security incidents using appropriate forensic tools, penetration testing methodologies, and threat intelligence techniques.

PSO 3

Ethical and Legal Cyber Practices: Demonstrate a strong understanding of cyber laws, policies, and ethical responsibilities while addressing societal and organizational security challenges with integrity and professionalism.

Design/Development of Solutions: Design creative solutions for complex engineering problems and design/develop systems/components/processes to meet identified needs with consideration for the public health and safety, whole-life cost, net zero carbon, culture, society and environment as required.

PO4:

Conduct Investigations of Complex Problems: Conduct investigations of complex engineering problems using research-based knowledge including design of experiments, modelling, analysis & interpretation of data to provide valid conclusions.

PO5:

Engineering Tool Usage: Create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources and modern engineering & IT tools, including prediction and modelling recognizing their limitations to solve complex engineering problems.

PO6:

The Engineer and The World: Analyze and evaluate societal and environmental aspects while solving complex engineering problems for its impact on sustainability with reference to economy, health, safety, legal framework, culture and environment.

Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics, human values, diversity and inclusion; adhere to national & international laws.
